An exciting winter break for our Lady Wolves!
What an exciting winter break for our Lady Wolves! Our girls were in the St Agnes winter break tournament on December 28th and 29th. Our first game was against St Paul Christian Academy, it was a battle right from the start.
The whistle blew and our girls were working the court with intensity. St Paul was relentless and through most of the first half stayed a point or two ahead. The second half St Paul Academy poured it on and our Lady Wolves just couldn’t get synchronized and St Paul pulled ahead and took us down. We however got to play the next day and we faced St Paul Harding. The girls were a little on edge from the previous day, and it was a real somber bus ride over to the game. The whistle blew at 5:20 and the ball went up in the air Dontrayia Cole our center jumped knocked the ball over to our #1 scorer D.J. Bland and let the game begin! D.J. started us off with a 2 pointer, in the first one and a half minutes of the game we were up by 20 pts. Sade Garces and DJ Bland were on their 3 pt game last night. I believe Sade had 3 and D.J. had 4. Hancia Randle got in the game and put some points on the board for us. Yosheena Turner was a beast and after DJ was fouled out of the game Yoshee helped keep our lead and brought the Lady Wolves to a 51 to 56 pt victory over St Paul Harding along with a 3rd place trophy, the first trophy for the girls team at MTS. Congratulations Ladies!!!!!! All of our girls played with dignity and class throughout this tournament. Hats off to our coaches and all the fans that showed up! We have 3 games coming up on Jan 5th that’s on Tues and its an away game I will get the location to you by Mon. We have a game on Thurs Jan 7th also away game location to follow, and that brings us to Sat home game. The importance of these next three games is not only to win but our own DJ Bland is close to scoring her 1000th point for her varsity career which by the way was all done at MTS. She’d like to go for the record and score 2601 by the end of her senior year beating the current record held by a former South High student. Let’s see some support for this awesome girls team and join us one of these nights.
